A Southern Sojourn at Café On 3: ‘Dakshin Dwar’ Brings the Flavours of the South to Delhi

Dakshin Dwar

This summer, Delhi’s culinary landscape takes a delightful detour down South with ‘Dakshin Dwar – A Southern Indian Culinary Trail’, an immersive food festival hosted by Café On 3 at Holiday Inn New Delhi Mayur Vihar Noida. From May 16 to June 1, 2025, diners can indulge in the finest offerings of South Indian gastronomy, expertly curated by guest chef Vishnu from Crowne Plaza Kochi.

Each evening, from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM, the restaurant transforms into a vibrant homage to the culture, aromas, and artistry of India’s southern states — Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana — offering more than just a meal, but an experience.

Chef Vishnu brings with him a legacy of authentic recipes and intricate cooking techniques that celebrate the culinary diversity of the South. The specially crafted menu features iconic dishes such as:

  • Vazhaipoo Cutlet – banana blossom fritters that are crisp and flavour-packed
  • Kanthari Chicken – a fiery Kerala-style preparation using bird’s eye chili
  • Thalapakatti Mutton Biryani – a fragrant Tamil Nadu classic with bold spices
  • Bendakaya Beeja Vepudu – stir-fried okra with sesame seeds from Telangana
  • Malliyila Manga Choru – a mango rice wrapped in banana leaves from Kerala
  • Mangalorean Mutton Ghee Roast – a rich and indulgent coastal delicacy
  • Traditional favourites like Appam, Kozhukattai, and Ela Ada

In the words of Shashi Shankar, Food & Beverage Manager, “At Holiday Inn New Delhi Mayur Vihar Noida, we believe in creating memorable dining experiences that go beyond just food. ‘Dakshin Dwar’ is an embodiment of that philosophy — a culinary trail that brings the soul of Southern India to our guests’ plates.”

Adding his creative insight, Executive Sous Chef Ashutosh Bisht remarked, “Southern Indian cuisine is a celebration of diversity, culture, and age-old culinary traditions. With ‘Dakshin Dwar’, my aim is to take our guests on a flavorful journey across the Southern states, highlighting the unique ingredients, techniques, and stories that define this vibrant region.”

To complement the gastronomic experience, Café On 3 will be adorned with South Indian-inspired décor, traditional art motifs, and cultural installations — transporting guests to a land of temples, backwaters, spice plantations, and timeless recipes.

Whether you’re a seasoned foodie or simply curious to explore regional Indian cuisine, Dakshin Dwar is a celebration of flavor, heritage, and heartfelt hospitality — promising to bring the magic of the Southern peninsula right to the capital’s doorstep.
